Code of Conduct

Garden State Gay Socials Code of Conduct

At Garden State Gay Socials, our mission is to create a welcoming, respectful, and enjoyable community where gay men can develop genuine friendships through shared experiences. Our guiding principle, Friendship First. Integrity Always. ™, is reflected in the standards we ask every member and guest to follow.

Participation in Garden State Gay Socials events, activities, online communities, and member areas constitutes agreement with this Code of Conduct.

  1. Community Eligibility and Purpose

Garden State Gay Socials is a social community specifically created for gay men who are single or married to another man and who are interested in developing genuine friendships with other gay men.

We recognize that everyone's personal journey is different. Gay men who were previously married to women are welcome in our community. However, if you are currently married to a woman, including when a separation or divorce is in progress, that marriage and divorce process must be legally completed before you may participate in Garden State Gay Socials.

This policy is not intended to judge anyone's past, personal circumstances, or journey. It exists to maintain clear boundaries and help preserve the comfortable, friendship focused environment our members expect. We respectfully ask anyone currently navigating an unresolved marriage to complete that chapter before becoming part of our community.

Garden State Gay Socials is not a dating or hookup organization. Our purpose is to create opportunities for friendship, conversation, shared experiences, community, and meaningful social connections.

  1. Respectful Engagement

Members are expected to interact with one another respectfully and without pressure. No individual should pressure another member to provide a telephone number, social media account, address, or other personal contact information.

Members are naturally free to exchange contact information when both individuals are comfortable doing so. The important distinction is mutual consent.

Our events are designed to encourage friendships to develop naturally. Persistent romantic or sexual advances, unwanted solicitation, or behavior that makes another participant uncomfortable is inconsistent with the purpose of Garden State Gay Socials.

  1. Safety and Personal Boundaries

Stalking, harassment, intimidation, threatening behavior, or unwanted repeated contact will not be tolerated. This applies to conduct at our events as well as subsequent electronic communications arising from participation in our community.

Every member has the right to establish personal boundaries, and those boundaries must be respected.

If someone indicates that he does not wish to continue a conversation, exchange contact information, communicate outside an event, or pursue further interaction, that decision must be respected without argument or retaliation.

  1. Communication and Respectful Discourse

Members should communicate with courtesy and consideration, even when opinions differ. Personal attacks, deliberately inflammatory behavior, bullying, derogatory remarks, and disruptive conduct have no place in our community.

Disagreements can occur among friends and within any social organization. Members are encouraged to approach differences calmly, listen to one another, and address misunderstandings respectfully.

Members should also be mindful of nonverbal communication, personal space, gestures, and other behaviors that could make another participant uncomfortable.

When a disagreement cannot reasonably be resolved between the individuals involved, a Garden State Gay Socials representative may be asked to assist.

  1. Privacy and Confidentiality

Members must respect the privacy of others. Personal information, private conversations, photographs, experiences, or information shared in confidence should not be distributed or publicly discussed without appropriate permission.

This expectation continues after an event has concluded.

Garden State Gay Socials may photograph or record portions of events for legitimate promotional, editorial, social media, website, or community purposes. Anyone who does not wish to have his image used should notify Garden State Gay Socials in writing before the event whenever reasonably possible and should also make the event organizer aware upon arrival.

  1. Responsible Behavior

Members are expected to behave responsibly and appropriately at all Garden State Gay Socials activities.

When alcohol is available, participants who choose to consume it are expected to do so responsibly. Individuals who arrive excessively intoxicated or become excessively intoxicated during an event may be asked to leave when their condition creates a disruption or safety concern.

Illegal drug possession or use is prohibited at Garden State Gay Socials events.

Attendees should arrive appropriately and fully dressed for the particular activity and maintain reasonable standards of personal presentation and conduct.

Theft, fraud, intentional property damage, or other dishonest or unlawful behavior will not be tolerated and may result in immediate removal, permanent exclusion from future activities, and referral to the appropriate authorities when warranted.

  1. Violence and Aggressive Conduct

Garden State Gay Socials maintains zero tolerance for violence, credible threats, intimidation, physical altercations, or intentionally destructive behavior.

Anyone whose conduct creates an immediate threat to another participant, venue employee, member of the public, or event organizer may be removed from the event immediately and prohibited from future participation.

Emergency services or law enforcement may be contacted when circumstances warrant.

  1. Harassment and Discrimination

Harassment and unlawful discrimination are prohibited.

Members are expected to treat other participants, venue personnel, event organizers, members of the public, and guests with dignity and respect.

Garden State Gay Socials exists specifically as a community for gay men. Within that mission, we expect members to respect differences in age, race, ethnicity, disability, gender identity, national origin, marital status where applicable, and other characteristics protected by law.

Our shared identity should be something that helps create connection, not something used to diminish another person.

  1. Avoiding Unnecessary Drama and Disruption

Garden State Gay Socials is intended to provide a positive social environment. We recognize that disagreements and personality differences occasionally occur, but members are expected to handle them maturely.

Repeated interpersonal conflict, deliberate disruption of events, spreading malicious rumors, involving members in private disputes, retaliation, or behavior that consistently interferes with other members' enjoyment of the community may result in administrative action.

Our goal is not to police ordinary differences between adults. It is to protect the overall environment when individual conduct begins negatively affecting the larger community.

  1. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness conduct that may violate this Code of Conduct, please contact the Garden State Gay Socials administration privately.

Reports will be taken seriously and handled with appropriate discretion. Anonymous reports may also be considered, although the amount of information available can affect our ability to investigate a concern.

Immediate safety concerns should always be reported to venue personnel, event organizers, emergency services, or law enforcement as appropriate to the circumstances.

  1. Violations and Community Participation

Garden State Gay Socials reserves the right to address violations based on their nature, frequency, and severity.

Depending upon the circumstances, action may include a private conversation, warning, temporary suspension, removal from an event, cancellation of membership privileges, or permanent exclusion from Garden State Gay Socials.

Serious misconduct does not require a previous warning before removal.

These standards exist to protect the community rather than to create unnecessary confrontation.

  1. Event Safety and Personal Responsibility

Participants are responsible for evaluating whether an activity is appropriate for their individual abilities and circumstances.

Some Garden State Gay Socials activities may involve walking, hiking, travel, outdoor conditions, uneven terrain, physical activity, transportation, or other ordinary risks associated with recreational and social activities.

Members are expected to follow reasonable safety instructions provided by event organizers, venues, guides, transportation providers, or other responsible personnel.

Participation in activities is voluntary and at each participant's own risk, subject to applicable law.

  1. Emergency Procedures

At organized events, members should follow instructions provided by Garden State Gay Socials representatives, venue personnel, guides, emergency responders, or other authorized personnel during an emergency.

If you feel unsafe or observe an immediate safety concern, notify an organizer or appropriate venue personnel as soon as possible.

  1. Feedback and Continuous Improvement

Garden State Gay Socials welcomes thoughtful and constructive feedback.

Our community will continue to evolve as we introduce new activities, destinations, member experiences, and opportunities for gay men to connect. Member observations can help us identify what is working well and where an experience can be improved.

Feedback should be offered respectfully and with the same spirit of integrity we expect throughout the community.

  1. Acknowledgment

By participating in Garden State Gay Socials, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to follow this Code of Conduct.

These standards are not intended to make friendship complicated. Quite the opposite. Clear expectations allow everyone to arrive knowing what kind of community they are entering and what is expected of the people around them.

We want single gay men and gay men married to other men to have a place where they can meet, participate in interesting experiences, develop genuine friendships, and become part of a community built on mutual respect.
